BAYONNE, N.J. (AP) - Police say a man was shot in the back in a drive-by shooting in Bayonne.

It happened Sunday just after 5 p.m. at 16th Street Park.

Police Lt. Franco Amato tells The Jersey Journal ( ) the 18-year-old was sitting on a bench when the driver of an SUV fired at least three shots. One of the bullets struck the man in the upper right side of his back.

Amato says the man is in stable condition at a hospital.

Amato says police interviewed seven people who witnessed the shooting.

The victim’s name has not been released.
