LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) - Like many tourists visiting Lake Havasu City, Ron Canty went to walk across the London Bridge during his recent visit, but unlike others this wasn’t his first time.
The Today’s News-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1bvRSRA ) that Canty, who went to see the Bridge on Saturday, was a member for the English crew of workers who dismantled the London Bridge in 1967. Director of the London Bridge Visitor Center Jan Kassies says Canty seemed surprised the bridge was so clean, the London smog long-since wiped away.
Lake Havasu City founder Robert McCulloch bought the bridge from the city of London in 1968 for approximately $2 million. It was brought piece by piece to Lake Havasu.
