WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Waterloo officials say two 17-year-olds accused of tying up and robbing a woman have been arrested.

Waterloo safety services director Dan Trelka says the pair were taken into custody Sunday. The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that officers responded around 11:45 a.m. Friday to a report that two people had entered a woman’s home, bound her, hit her with a hammer and threatened her.

Police say the suspects stole several valuable items, including a car, which was found abandoned hours later. The woman didn’t report any serious injury.

The teens have been charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and other offenses. The Associated Press typically does not name juveniles charged with crimes.
