Search is on for missing swimmer in Florida Panhandle

DESTIN, Fla. (AP) - The search continues for a swimmer who went missing off Crab Island in the Florida Panhandle.

The Northwest Daily News (https://bit.ly/1JKDvnz ) reports the 20-year-old man didn’t return after going for a swim on Sunday evening. He had rented a boat with a group of friends to spend the day on Crab Island.

Officials say the man and a female friend got off the boat to swim around 5 p.m. Sunday. The woman made it safely back onto the boat. Authorities were alerted and the Coast Guard and Okaloosa County Sheriff’s officials began searching.
