ZACHARY, La. (AP) - A teenager has been accused of raping a mentally disabled girl last October following a televised CrimeStoppers report.
The New Orleans Advocate (https://bit.ly/1z4DUB7 ) reports 18-year-old Ikeal Franklin was charged Friday with one count of aggravated rape for alleged actions with an 18-year-old Zachary High School student suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome and bipolar disorder.
An affidavit says the victim’s IQ was below 70 and her mental illness prevented her from resisting Franklin’s sexual advances.
Police say Franklin raped the victim at her home after school when her parents weren’t there. The affidavit says Franklin was invited to the house by one of the girl’s friends, who was there at the time.
Asperger’s syndrome is a disorder which delays the development of many basic skills, mainly socializing with others and communicating.
