WACO, Texas (AP) - A Waco man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a hit-and-run incident involving a McLennan County sheriff’s deputy.

Fifty-eight-year-old Raymond Ross Mormino II pleaded guilty in March to striking Deputy Tyrone Caldwell with his pickup truck. Caldwell was walking in Cameron Park with his wife, Marcella, at the time of the incident, which occurred in January 2012.

Mormino fled the scene and was later arrested after witnesses gave a description of his vehicle to police.

He was sentenced Friday to 15 years for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and 10 years in prison for failure to stop and render aid. The two sentences will run concurrently.
