MULHALL, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says one person was killed and two were injured when a tractor-trailer rig exploded after colliding with another semi on Interstate 35 in northern Oklahoma.
The OHP says the crash occurred about 10 a.m. Friday when the driver of one rig experienced a mechanical problem and tried to pull to the side of the highway near the Mulhall exit. The patrol says another rig then collided with the first semi and exploded, killing the driver of the second rig and injuring the other driver.
A passer-by who stopped to help was then hit by debris.
No names have been released.
The interstate is closed at the crash site with traffic being diverted onto the Mulhall exit and then back on to I-35.
