GRANITEVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A Christian center in Aiken County that provides job training, life skills classes and relationship help to families has put up a 92-foot tall cross in Graniteville.

Media outlets report the Megiddo Dream Station dedicated the steel cross Thursday night. It will be lit from sunset to sunrise.

Megiddo Dream Station officials said private donations paid for the cross which sits on land the group owns at the Graniteville Cemetery.

The group hopes the cross becomes one of Aiken County’s biggest landmarks and becomes a sign of hope for the community where nine people died in a 2005 train derailment and chlorine gas spill.
