DEDHAM, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man has been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole for the 2010 killing of his ex-girlfriend, whose dismembered body was found in a barrel in the basement of a beauty shop.

A Norfolk Superior Court jury convicted Edward Aduayi of Abington of first-degree murder Friday afternoon, and a judge imposed the life prison sentence.

Prosecutors say Aduayi killed 28-year-old Karneetha Sanders in July 2010, dismembered her body and put it in a barrel in his family’s beauty shop in Randolph.

District Attorney Michael Morrissey called the killing a shocking and unconscionable act of domestic violence. Sanders’ parents gave emotional victim impact statements after the guilty verdict was announced, saying the trial couldn’t offer a complete picture of the loving daughter they lost.
