FLOMATON, Ala. (AP) - Alabama state troopers are investigating a deadly crash on Interstate 65 that involved three tractor-trailers and six other vehicles.

WKRG-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1ChOJua ) one person was killed in the collisions Thursday evening near Flomaton, about 65 miles northeast of Mobile. Trooper Jamie Malloy says at least five others were injured.

Malloy says slow-moving, congested traffic likely played a role in the chain-reaction crash. Troopers are still trying to determine what caused it.

Chad Christian was driving to Birmingham when he found himself in the middle of the chaos on I-65. He says he saw a tractor-trailer slam into the back of another vehicle, sending lumber flying. Christian walked away unscathed.

Troopers have not released the name of the person killed in the crash.
