CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities are monitoring the site of a landslide at Yeager Airport and a nearby creek as rain continues to fall.

Yeager spokesman Mike Plante say the airport’s Response Coordination Center will be staffed 24 hours a day. Police and other personnel will monitor the slope and the creek and make hourly reports to the center.

Plante says authorities also are staging emergency equipment near the area as a precaution.

Airport officials and first responders met Friday morning to discuss contingency plans. Residents who were affected by the slide will be notified of any water issues.

A man-made emergency overrun area at the end of the hillside airport’s runway broke loose on March 12. The landslide took out a church, an unoccupied home, power lines and trees. No injuries were reported.
