WESTLAND, Mich. (AP) - Extreme fog has forced the cancellation of a Detroit-area marshmallow drop, but a second such event ended up going forward.

Organizers of the annual Wayne County Marshmallow Drop scheduled for Elizabeth Park in Trenton on Friday morning say the drop won’t take place there, but prizes will still be distributed to children. A drop at Nankin Mills Park in Westland took place later in the morning.

Thousands of marshmallows were dropped from a helicopter in the Easter weekend tradition. Children collect the goodies and turn them in for prizes.
