HOUSTON (AP) - Authorities say a 5-year-old Houston boy was injured after being accidentally shot when a gun was found in an apartment he and other children were playing in.
Houston police spokesman John Cannon says the boy was shot around 11 a.m. Friday, possibly by another family member, after the gun was found in a bedroom.
Cannon says the boy was taken to a local hospital. His condition wasn’t immediately known.
Police are still trying to determine if an adult was in the apartment.
Friday’s incident follows three similar accidental shootings involving Houston-area children that took place between Feb. 27 and March 2.
In those cases, a 3-year-old boy and a 4-year-old boy both died after shooting themselves, while a 6-year-old boy was injured after being shot by his younger brother.
