SEATTLE (AP) - A King County jury has awarded $3.7 million to the estate of a man fatally shot Christmas Eve 2012 at a Bellevue nightclub.

The Seattle Times reports (https://is.gd/rEo45c ) that jurors found Brewhaha Bellevue, owners of Munchbar, liable for most of the damages. It also awarded $520,000 to the man’s sister, Destiny Milliken, who was wounded in the shooting.

But jurors this week also found the victims to be partially at fault, thus reducing the final judgment against the bar to $3.17 million.

DeShawn Milliken was fatally shot as hundreds of people, including some Seahawks players, celebrated a football victory.

The wrongful death lawsuit filed in 2013 alleged employees failed to prevent 19-year-old Ja’Mari Jones from entering the nightclub and failed to frisk him for weapons.

Jones was sentenced to 18 years in prison for second-degree murder in the shooting.
