ROOSEVELT, N.Y. (AP) - A man has been killed and two other people injured in a fast-moving fire on Long Island.
Nassau County fire officials say the cause appears to be an electrical accident.
Roosevelt Fire Chief Derrick Fennell says the fire early Friday morning destroyed a single-room occupancy home in his central Nassau County community.
James Hickman of the fire marshal’s office says the fire started in a front bedroom and rapidly spread through the house.
Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1HrKDV3 ) reports two people were taken to a hospital. One man injured his ankle when he jumped from a second-floor window. A woman injured her hand.
Fennell says there were 10 adults, but no children, in the home.
The man who died was found in a second-floor bedroom.
None of the victims have been identified.
