JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - The main runway at the Juneau International Airport is about to undergo a massive construction project that will include resurfacing it.
Juneau radio station KTOO (https://is.gd/JJbvF8) reports passengers may experience some additional ground waiting timein the coming months because of the project.
Airport manager Patty deLaBruere says planes will begin using a temporary runway at the old taxiway.
The work is part of a multi-phase project that is in its second year.
Phase 2 will include resurfacing the main runway and is estimated to have a $22 million price tag.
The runway is expected to be back in operation by July 1.
Officials say Federal Aviation Administration grants are funding most of the construction cost.
