NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - A man has been arrested on suspicion of beating and shooting another man outside a motel room in North Platte.

Police say 24-year-old Jerry Kindle was taken into custody around 10 a.m. on Friday. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney who could be contacted to comment on his behalf.

Officers who were called to the Blue Spruce Motel around 1:15 a.m. Friday found a 31-year-old man who’d been beaten and who’d been grazed by a bullet. The man and witnesses say he was standing outside his room when two or three men approached him and one began striking him with the butt of a handgun. Gunshots were fired, and the men ran away.

Police say Kindle is also suspected in an assault that occurred at a grocery store Thursday.
