MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say an evening house fire in suburban Cleveland killed a man, while another person escaped.

The blaze broke out Thursday at a home in Maple Heights, less than 10 miles southeast of downtown Cleveland. Officials didn’t immediately release a name or other information about the man who was found dead.

Maple Heights Fire Chief Vito Kavaliunas tells the Northeast Ohio Media Group that the fire was contained to the first floor of the home.

The cause is under investigation. The state fire marshal’s office is involved with that investigation.
