NORTH SYRCUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say they’re investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on a Syracuse-area road.

Local media report that police in the village of North Syracuse and the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office are looking for the vehicle that hit a man around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Route 11. Authorities say the driver didn’t stop.

Police say they were alerted to the accident when someone called 911 to report a man lying in the road. When officers, they found the man had suffered severe injuries. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police are withholding the man’s identity until all family members have been notified.
