PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix man accused of slapping, biting and pulling the hair of his baby daughter has been sentenced to a year in jail.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 19-year-old Abiezer Neftali Zuniga also was sentenced Friday to 30 years of supervised probation for two counts of child abuse.
Zuniga and the child’s mother were arrested after allegedly abusing their then 1-year-old daughter on multiple occasions from February 2014 to April 2014.
Phoenix police say officers were sent to child’s home by her maternal grandparents.
Police reported finding the baby with numerous bite marks and injuries.
They say Phoenix Fire Department paramedics were called to provide medical treatment to the girl.
