CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Yeager Airport says a United Express flight landed safely after smoke in the cabin prompted the pilot to declare an emergency.

Yeager says the Dash 8B was heading to the Charleston airport from Dulles International Airport on Friday when the emergency was declared.

There also was an electrical problem affecting the plane’s transponder. Yeager says in a news release that the pilot was able to reset the system on the plane’s final approach to the airport.

Thirty-four people were on the plane.
