LYNDONVILLE, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont town police chief says he wasn’t able to reach a dispatcher during a high-speed chase, which happened at about the same time state police were conducting a test in preparation for a call center consolidation.
The Caledonian Record reports (https://bit.ly/1Iv8VxL) state police will investigate why Lyndonville Police Chief Jack Harris wasn’t able to contact the dispatcher Wednesday. He was providing backup during part of the chase on northbound Interstate 91. His computer showed he was never logged in by dispatchers.
The chase happened as state police were conducting a 24-hour dispatching test. The 911 center in Williston was handling calls normally picked up in Derby. The Derby operation is to be merged into the Williston operation.
