PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - School officials in York, Maine, say they will not comment on the arrest of a middle school principal on a drunken driving charge.

The Portsmouth Herald (https://bit.ly/1F8RUXa ) reports police arrested York Middle School principal David Williams on Saturday night in York on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. School officials say they are aware of the charge, but declined to comment further because it is a personnel matter. Williams is also declining to comment.

School Committee chairman Tim Fitzgerald says Williams remains employed as principal and has not been suspended. The 42-year-old Williams lives in Barrington, New Hampshire. Police charged him on March 28.
