PUYALLUP, Wash. (AP) - A Puyallup, Washington, woman accused of stealing a small dog and selling him for drug money has been charged with third-degree theft.
KOMO-TV reports (https://is.gd/D2SyHQ ) that the dog’s owner, Kimberlie Manzano, still doesn’t know where her pet is. She last saw the 6-year-old Boston terrier when she let him out to go to the bathroom in October.
Pierce County prosecutors say 23-year-old Taira Lee Stone snatched the dog and took him to a nearby apartment complex.
According to prosecutors, Stone told police she didn’t think the dog belonged to anyone. She also said she kept the dog for several days and then sold him online. Police believe she used the money to buy drugs.
Police identified Stone using surveillance footage from the apartment complex, after an employee there contacted the dog’s owner.
