NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of West, Middle and East Tennessee as a line of severe storms is predicted to sweep across the state.
Forecasters say the storms could potentially produce hail, heavy rainfall, damaging winds and tornadoes. All but the southwest corner of West Tennessee and much of Middle are under the tornado watch. The National Weather Service in Morristown says that most of the East Tennessee Valley is under a tornado watch as well and will remain so until midnight.
Heavy rains are expected to move into East Tennessee later this evening, and the biggest threat could be damaging winds above 60 miles per hour.
Meteorologists predict the rain will move out overnight and be cooler and dry on Saturday.
