DENVER (AP) - The wife of Aurora’s fire chief will spend a night in jail and 10 days on home detention as punishment for a hit-and-run crash that injured a child.
The Denver Post reported Friday (https://goo.gl/F53rJd ) that Adriene Garcia, who is married to Fire Chief Mike Garcia, also received two years of probation, must perform 200 hours of community service and attend drug and alcohol counseling. She previously pleaded guilty to vehicular assault.
Police say she rear-ended a sedan at a red light May 14 and left the scene. A child in the other car suffered a fractured jaw.
Garcia’s husband told police his wife called him and told him her car wasn’t running. Another man then got on the phone and told him she had been in an accident.
