LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A 30-year-old southern New Mexico woman has pleaded no contest in a man’s fatal beating of her boyfriend with a wooden baseball at her urging.
The Las Cruces Sun-News (https://goo.gl/9Znwyy ) reports that 30-year-old Rebecca Gomez had faced first-degree murder and multiple other charges for her role in the 2013 killing of 37-year-old Jerome Saiz but pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and kidnapping.
Leonard Telles was convicted in January of second-degree murder and other charges for killing Saiz. He is serving a 39-year prison sentence.
Prosecutor Daniel Sewell said he agreed to request an 18-year prison sentence for Gomez.
