PEMBROKE TOWNSHIP, Ill. (AP) - Four men from Chicago and northwest Indiana have been arrested on suspicion of poaching deer in eastern Illinois.
The Illinois Conservation Police says the men purchased a small plot of land in rural Pembroke Township, in Kankakee County, but were poaching on neighboring property.
Sgt. Mark Simon tells The (Kankakee) Daily Journal (https://bit.ly/1ClrT51 ) the men had even put up deer stand on the neighbor’s property and were baiting deer by putting out peanut butter.
Three of the men are from Chicago. The other is from Hammond, Indiana. Each was charged with unlawfully hunting without permission of the landowner, unlawfully hunting deer during a closed season, unlawfully hunting by use of bait and failure to have valid hunting licenses and deer permits.
