BRIDGEVILLE, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say they are investigating after a man apparently shot himself immediately following a police chase.
Police say they spotted a maroon Chevy Impala that matched the description of a car used in a recent bank robbery at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday in Bridgeville and began following it. Police say when the car failed to stop troopers deployed a tire deflation device to halt the car. Police say as the car came to a controlled stop between Oak and Sanfilippo roads they heard a gunshot. Police say when they approached the car they discovered the 35-year-old passenger dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police say the driver, a 31-year-old woman, was not hurt.
Police say the death is being investigated as a suicide.
