PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - A Florida man faces murder charges in the fatal shooting of a man killed last year in an apartment above a barber shop in northern New Jersey.

Paterson police say 28-year-old Kinanchy Deaza was arrested Tuesday at his apartment in Naples. But it’s not clear if he has been returned to New Jersey or if he will fight extradition.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Ramere Lockhart, or said what led them to identify Deaza as a suspect. They also declined to say whether Deaza and Lockhart knew each other.

Police responding to reports of shots fire found Lockhart in his apartment on Oct. 5. Witnesses have said the killer climbed down a fire escape and ran off on foot.
