DeWITT, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State Police say human remains found near DeWitt in Arkansas County have been sent to the State Crime Lab for identification and to try and determine a cause of death.

State police spokesman Bill Sadler said the remains were found along Arkansas 1 and that they appear to be male, but investigators are awaiting a report from the crime lab.

Sadler says the Arkansas County Sheriff’s Office asked state police on Thursday for help in the case, but it wasn’t clear when the remains were discovered.
