BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A 24-year-old Idaho man is facing second-degree murder charges after police say he beat a homeless man to death near a downtown Boise overpass.

Police say that Scotty Turnbull punched and stomped 37-year-old Russell “Rusty” Bitton to death last October near 16th Street in Boise.

The Idaho Statesman newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/1NGI57s) that Turnbull could face up to life in prison if convicted.

Police say that Turnbull also kicked and beat a woman in the head and punching another man in the face one day earlier.

He faces charges of felony and misdemeanor battery and is being held on a $1 million bond.

The 24-year-old has previously been convicted of grand theft, petit theft, battery and drug possession, as well as fish and game and concealed weapons violations.
