ELKO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada game wardens are searching for leads in an elk-poaching case in northern Elko County.
Warden Jason Jackson of the Nevada Department of Wildlife says the animal was “shot through the heat and left to rot” near the Meadow Creek-Jarbidge road, about 10 miles west of the Diamond A Ranch.
He thinks the bull may have been shot sometime around the weekend of March 21 in Hunt Unit 071.
Big-game poaching is a felony in Nevada.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Operation Game Thief or NDOW’s Elko office.
