LOS ANGELES (AP) - A series of small earthquakes, the largest magnitude 3.1, has rattled the northern San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles.

The U.S. Geological Survey says six quakes, most around magnitude 1 and 2, started at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, centered near Oat Mountain in the Santa Susana range.

City News Service says a magnitude 2.7 hit at 7:52 a.m. and a magnitude 3.1 struck at 7:54 in the area about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

Shaking was reported across the northern half of the Valley and as far away as Glendale to the southeast.

City fire officials say there are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
