CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - A South Texas man accused in the fatal shooting of his daughter’s ex-boyfriend during a scuffle will not be prosecuted for the October slaying.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times (https://bit.ly/1Gtwybl ) reported Friday that a Nueces County grand jury declined to indict 56-year-old Daniel Salazar, who claimed self-defense.

Salazar was charged with murder for the slaying of 30-year-old Daniel Andrew Hernandez. Authorities say the victim showed up at a residence and the men began to argue.

Attorneys for Salazar say that Hernandez stalked his former girlfriend, had broken into her house several times and threatened to kill her.

Salazar said he was defending himself and his daughter when Hernandez was shot.

Salazar was no-billed last week.
