ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a woman has died in a one-car crash in Lorain County in northeast Ohio.

The State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. Saturday on Oberlin Road in New Russia Township. A statement from the patrol’s Elyria post says the Lorain County coroner has not released the identity of the woman who died at the scene.

The patrol says the woman apparently lost control of her SUV. The vehicle went off the right side of the road into a ditch and sideswiped a tree before re-entering the roadway. The patrol says the vehicle then went off the left side of the road and hit a tree before catching fire.

The investigation is continuing.

Investigators said it wasn’t immediately known whether the woman was wearing a seatbelt.
