JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a Jersey City police officer was injured when his cruiser was struck by a sport utility vehicle.

The Jersey Journal (https://bit.ly/1Gf2npB) reports the crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Beacon and Baldwin avenues.

Authorities say the SUV driver was looking for an address and, after realizing he had just passed by it, he made a U-turn. But his vehicle collided with the cruiser moments later, causing damage to both vehicles.

The police officer, identified only as a captain with the Jersey City force, was treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries.

The SUV driver, whose name wasn’t disclosed, was cited for careless driving and making an illegal U-turn.
