APPLEWOLD, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a man was killed in a fire in a duplex in western Pennsylvania.

Officials in Armstrong County say the blaze was reported in the residence in Applewold at about 6:41 p.m. Saturday.

Chief Mark Feeney of the East Franklin volunteer fire department said a woman and three children managed to escape, but the man went up to the second floor.

Rescue teams found him on the floor in a second-floor bedroom. He was taken to ACMH Hospital in Kittanning, where he was pronounced dead.

County coroner Brian Myers identified him as 42-year-old David Hozier of Applewold. An autopsy is planned.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
