PARIS (AP) - Winger Nicolas Maurice-Belay’s first goal since August proved a timely one as it helped Bordeaux beat Lens 2-1 Sunday and keep alive its hopes of qualifying for next season’s Europa League.
All the goals came in a frantic last 10 minutes, with Maurice-Belay scoring in the 90th minute after Lens striker Pablo Chavarria’s 87th-minute goal had canceled out Brazilian defender Mariano’s opener.
The win keeps sixth-place Bordeaux two points behind Saint-Etienne and three adrift of fourth-place Monaco, which has played one less game.
Lens is last and seems headed for relegation.
Meanwhile, teenage midfielder Thomas Lemar scored his first career goal deep into injury time as Caen moved closer to mid-table with a 2-1 win at Nantes, which dropped down to 10th place.
American midfielder Alejandro Bedoya scored his second goal of the season to give Nantes the lead in the 11th minute, but striker Emiliano Sala equalized from the penalty spot in the 80th - his fifth goal in eight games since joining on loan from Bordeaux.
Later Sunday, Marseille takes on bitter rival Paris Saint-Germain in their eagerly awaited clash.
A win would move PSG above Lyon and back to the top while victory for Marseille would see it take second place, one point behind Lyon.
