SYDNEY (AP) - The Melbourne Victory moved into first place in Australia’s A-League on Sunday with a 3-0 win over Wellington in the New Zealand capital.
Guilherme Finkler gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the first minute as the Victory moved to 44 points, one ahead of Adelaide and two ahead of the Phoenix.
With three regular-season rounds remaining, only three points separate the top five teams, including Sydney FC and the Perth Glory in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with 41 points each.
The Newcastle Jets host Perth on the Easter Monday holiday to close out the 24th round.
