INDIAN SPRINGS, Nev. (AP) - A missing airman from Creech Air Force Base in southern Nevada has been found dead on a nearby mountain.

Police say the body of 37-year-old Travis Parkhurst of North Las Vegas was found about noon Saturday in heavy brush on Mount Charleston.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office was trying to determine his cause of death.

Police say his vehicle was found off a dirt road at Mount Charleston on Friday night after his wife reported him missing earlier in the day.

Authorities and volunteer crews were hampered by rough, steep terrain in their search.

Parkhurst was a member of the 432nd Air Wing at the air base, located about 45 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
