CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - There’s talk among some state legislators of creating a state gaming commission to oversee the Wyoming Lottery and other gambling.
The Wyoming Lottery started selling Powerball and Mega Millions tickets in August. It added a state game this year.
Republican Sen. Ogden Driskill, of Devils Tower, says he’s concerned the lottery is expanding without yet distributing proceeds to cities, towns and counties.
But lottery CEO Jon Clontz says the lottery is first paying off a $2.6 million bank loan that was used to get it up and running.
He tells the Casper Star-Tribune (https://bit.ly/1ayKV2k ) that the lottery is on track to start distributing money to local governments next year.
An interim legislative panel will be studying gambling in Wyoming before the 2016 session.
