WINCHESTER, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police have identified a Winchester man fatally shot by a deputy who responded to a domestic situation.

State police say 38-year-old Christopher A. Prevatt died at the scene of the Friday night incident.

State police say in a news release that a Frederick County Sheriff’s deputy responding to a 911 call entered a residence in the Regency Lakes subdivision and encountered Prevatt. Prevatt was subsequently shot.



The deputy and a woman inside the residence weren’t injured.

State police are investigating the shooting. The deputy’s name hasn’t been released.
