DURHAM, N.H. (AP) - A University of New Hampshire student is among five New England students and 34 nationwide awarded a grant to work at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Allison Wood of Tuftonboro, an environmental engineering major at UNH, was chosen for EPA’s Greater Research Opportunities fellowship program. The program provides students with a paid internship at an EPA facility working with scientists in their field.
The award-winning students are undergraduates entering their junior year.
The fellowship provides up to $20,700 a year of academic support - as well as a summer internship - for a combined total of up to $50,000 for the life of the fellowship. Previous fellows have gone on to become government researchers, engineers, university professors, and science teachers.
“The EPA Greater Research Opportunities Program is a unique and exciting chance to connect with the EPA and get involved with the work they are doing for our nation,” Wood said.
