IDER, Ala. (AP) - Forecasters have confirmed that a weak tornado touched down during Friday night’s severe thunderstorms in northeast Alabama.

The National Weather Service made the determination following a survey of storm damage over the weekend in the Ider area of DeKalb County. The weather service classified the tornado as an EF-1, with top wind speeds estimated at 105 mph.

The Times-Journal of Fort Payne reports (https://bit.ly/1a57FGn) that the twister touched down shortly after 9 p.m. Friday, snapping and uprooting several trees and damaging an outbuilding.

Authorities say the tornado peaked just west of Alabama 75, where it did significant roof damage to a home. Several other homes sustained minor damages.

No serious injuries were reported.
