SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Two men are appealing their sentences in a botched drug robbery that left a Sioux Falls man dead nearly two years ago.
The Argus Leader (https://argusne.ws/1xVu4kp ) reports 21-year-old Kevin Rice of Dells Rapids appealed his 60-year sentence last month, and attorneys for 19-year-old Brian Anderson of Watertown are in the process of filing his appeal. An initial appeal period for Anderson’s 50-year sentence has passed, but resentencing would allow for a new appeal period.
Rice pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter for his role in the robbery plot against 19-year-old Jordan LeBeau. He admitted to showing Anderson and Trevor Kruthoff where LeBeau lived and giving them the handgun used in the shooting.
Anderson pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and manslaughter. Kruthoff faced the same charges as Anderson and received a 40-year sentence.
