RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine plans to discuss trade and economic development with local business leaders during a five-day swing through Virginia.

Kaine’s tour kicks off on Monday morning with a roundtable meeting with local business owners in Richmond. U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker will join Kaine for the event.

On Monday afternoon, Kaine is scheduled to tour the Vireol Ethanol plant in Hopewell.

Other events include meeting with members of student robotics teams at CS Monroe Technology School in Leesburg, and visiting the U.S. Coast Guard Base Portsmouth.

Kaine will be in Appomattox on Thursday to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee’s surrender at Appomattox Court House.
