HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) - Police in Holyoke are investigating the Easter Sunday shooting death of a 30-year-old city man.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired on Chestnut Street at about 6 p.m. Sunday.

But the victim had already been taken to the hospital in a private vehicle where he was pronounced dead.

Police Chief James Neiswanger (NICE’-wong-er) says the man was shot after an altercation.

His name has not been made public.

There have been no arrests but police are interviewing witnesses.

The death was the city’s second homicide of the year.
