CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - Corpus Christi authorities say police shot an armed suspect who had pointed a gun at officers.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times (https://bit.ly/1yOrt6W ) reports the suspect, who wasn’t identified, was taken to a hospital and is in serious condition.

Authorities say officers responding to a report of a robbery Saturday night found someone who had been pistol-whipped and robbed.

Officers later found a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s and tried to conduct a traffic stop. Police say the suspect refused to pull over and led officers on a car chase.

Police say the suspect exited the vehicle and ran off. Officers chased the suspect, who pointed a gun at police, prompting them to shoot.

Authorities say the four officers involved will be placed on administrative leave while an investigation continues.
