FOREST, Miss. (AP) - A special election for five seats on the new school board for the Scott County School District is scheduled for Tuesday.

The polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

The state took over the district a year ago after finding that former Superintendent Bingham Moncrief ruled through intimidation and flouted state rules.

Former school board members were barred for running in the special election.

Conservator Mark Boyles says the new board members will be required to complete training by state officials and then the board will begin the search for a new superintendent of education for the 4,200-student school district.

Boyles will oversee the initial steps of the search process for a superintendent.
